Time's Wall

In this silent quiet night
hidden deeply out of sight
Time's clock is ticking quietly
counting off eternity.

In the stillness of this deep night
Time still ticks on and on despite
our wishful thoughts and hopes and fears.
Time keeps on ticking off the years.

Some say only Time can tell
why some make heaven into Hell.
Life is tough and death is grim.
Death appears at Time's cruel whim.

Time doesn't love a wall.
Time doesn't love at all
All walls must fall and all will fall
seduced by Time's illusive call.

Must human tissue, blood and skin,
underneath the wall within,
be crushed to dust
by Time's cruel whim?

Most people live their lives each day
unaware in every way
that even Time itself will fall
crushed to dust at some cruel call.
