sometimes words hurt

When we speak in anger
Or say things
That are unkind
Those are the last
Words we leave behind

Once the words are spoken
We can’t take them back
And we have now hurt another
And we must live with
That fact

We may have
Caused another’s tears
To fall
When we open our mouths
To speak
Without thinking at all

Some words can
Cut deeper than a knife
We need to think before
We speak
If were not going to say
Something nice

When we cause
Another person pain
from saying,
hurtful, nasty words
That we speak
We are then the reason
Tears
Are rolling down their cheeks

We should only,
speak words
Of encouragement and love
We should use our words
To build other’s
Up

Don’t use words
That will bring other’s
Down
Say something nice
And you may see
A smile instead
Of a frown

Words we leave behind
