Words

A message to the future
Words we leave behind
A record of our journey
Through the corridors of time

Stories of the way we lived
Of love and war and strife
Paints for them a picture
Of how we dealt with life

Lessons for the masses
A blueprint if you will
When history repeats itself
Words will be useful still

Some words chock full of laughter
Refuge from life's pain
Snapshots of the ancestors
They'll never see again

The words I'd leave are simple
Good health, good life, some fun
May you taste the best of everything
Before your journey's done

May your life be free from raindrops
Wine of life, taste clean and free
Then, if you have a moment
Would you please remember me!
