One Moment In Time

Oh Lord, Won't you please grant me
Just one moment in time
When grandma lived to comfort me
Tell me it would be fine.

Now her glow within this aching heart
Softly echos throughout my mind
As I close my eyes and drift away
To that different place in time

Blue roses on a mantletop
Cookoo clock marking time
You sleeping in your favorite chair
Sweet memory of mine

I see you lost in reverie
Your face looks so sublime
Your hair dusted with silver now
Oh ! what a sight devine

Your withered hands lay in your lap
Dark spotted with the years
How well I can remember
When they reached to dry my tears

Your brow is furrowed , lined with care
What sorrow you have known
As one by one the one's you loved
Have left you all alone

Gone off to just discover self,
Forgotten about you
Still living, but so all alone
In a world that's turned dark blue

I know that I have let you down
And I wish that I could be
Beside you just to hold you
That you wern't just history

I brush a tear from out my eye
Tell myself that I'll be fine
Except for just a moment seen
Through the hourglass of time
