One Starry Night

The night air was calm , and delightfully sweet
Filled with the fragrance of summer flowers.
We sat together on the old porch swing,
Just talking and laughing away the hours.

You took my hand, got down on one knee.
I remember the moment seemed just right.
With shaky voice you asked, 'Will you marry Me'?
It happened on one beautiful starry night.

I had loved you for such a long, long time.
Your question put joy-tears in my eyes.
The sparkling ring you slipped on my finger,
Twinkled like all of the stars in the skies.

It's been thirty-three years since the day we wed.
There has been sadness but, so much delight.
The love we professed is ours now and forever.
It happened on one beautiful starry night.
