Past, Present and Future

(Written in Rhyming Couplets)

Away back in, my teenage years,
so many nights, close to tears.

Deep in thought, every day,
should I go, or should I stay?

Decision made, I left my kin,
already been through thick and thin.

Military life, would set me free,
not for me, the air or sea.

Off for twenty years, and three,
that army time, suited me.

Back then with, my wife and son,
a peaceful life now, I had won.

My next career, has been retail,
which is comparatively pale.

No guns, no bombs, or war for me,
alas, no camaraderie...

Content though now, in spare time,
I write stories, and some rhyme.

My new thing is, creative writing,
and stories I can, make exciting.

Experience of, the things I’ve done,
I have ideas, by the ton.

Thoughts of fame, won’t light my fire,
success, some cash, are my desire.

I’d then give up, the 9 to 5,
and as an author, I’d survive.

Writing then, would be full time,
of sex, romance, and also crime.

In the aura of, my final bow,
not thoughts for me, of then and now.

When I’ve passed on, I’d like to feel,
my loved ones know, they can deal.

With what the future, then may hold,
and God’s love theirs, to behold.

I’d like to thank, all who this read,
this rhyme for me, fulfilled a need.
