The Pain I hold inside

Look at teddy and me
Sitting on this swing
I bet that we look happy
Just as Happy as can be

But inside I hold a secret
And I’m about to let it out
I am about to tell you
What child abuse is all?
About

I know all about this subject
You see I have been abused
Yes, the story I will share
Is sad
But true

You may make Assumptions
About my parents
As you read my words
You may think they are awful
Cruel and unkind

Life is like a book
And mine is a sad tale
Once you have read it
You will know my story
Well

That one forgotten breath
I hold it inside
I do not want them to hear me
To know where,
I hide

I try not to scream
I try not to cry
I try not to make a sound
And this is
Why

If my parents find me
There will be hell
To pay
You see they abuse me
Every single day

I have scars, marks, and bruises
To many to count
I have even been,
burned by cigarettes
Still, I do not scream out

I hold the pain inside
The tears, I try to stop
Because if I scream or cry
Let my feelings known
For some reason,
That makes them madder
And I receive
More blows

I have had my hair pulled out
Broken bones
I have suffered those too
All caused by my parents
It is called
Child abuse

I sometimes go hungry
Because,
they say I have been bad
How can two grown ups
Treat a child
So bad

They call me awful names
Some I can’t repeat
Oh no, a tear just slipped down
My cheek

I hurry to wipe it away
And paste the smile back on
I am just a little kid
But I try
To be strong

For Years I have suffered
Been beat, with angry hands
I have been abused
By my mom and my dad

I hurt so bad
Inside and out
I want to run away
Just find a way to escape
To get Out

Look at my body, My heart,
They are broken, battered,
and bruised
I am just a small child
Who lives a life
Of abuse
