What Is It

Gosh, I'm glad it's waiting there
I've been thinking about it all day
I remember the older folks used
to say it was time to hit the hay

It's made up so smooth and lovely
throughout the long tiring day
but when night time returns again
upon it now we want to lay

Sometimes it's a place for romance
other times it's only a place to rest
whatever the reason you use it
it's one among the very best

It's a good place to toss and turn
and do things you don't do other places
would make you roll your eyes for sure
and peepers would have deep red faces

Most every body has at least one
or more they can call their own
except maybe those who
do not even have a home

It has four legs and a head
only one foot can it claim
if you can not solve this riddle
I am not the one to blame
