Black and white memory

Darling, I’ve thought about our day at least a billion
times, and as I look back once more the view seems
so surreal- Distant clouds disperse to a day when
roses; red as beaujolais and tender baby’s-breath
whispered silent blessings over shaky hands.

Oblivious to family and friends gathered on makeshift
pews gazing curiously ahead. Were they even there?

No lull of a gently churning sea, just two voices
breathless - quivering, and March’s feathered tendrils
never brushed our skin, only two beating hearts
strummed by the master’s bow touched our consciousness’

Your offered heart lay bare, mesmerized my soul
and in answer to your plea - destiny’s rainbow sprang
forth from golden smiles borne on wings of faith.
On shores of overwhelming joy and never-ending
tomorrows. Changing horizon from pewter cast,
into kaleidoscopic fantasy.

Reverent prayers exchanged singular moments
for infinity set in platinum, tenderly tasting utopia’s
nectar; lost in your charms, encircled within your arms-
and all the rest, if there was something more seams
faded compared to your brilliance, blurry and unimportant,
as a black and white memory.
