YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND

Photobucket

I was feeling all alone
Searching somewhere for a home
A place that I could write my poems
So many lost and long time gone

Writing since the age of eight
A wonder how I still would hesitate
But as I signed in to the site
I really did get a fright

I thought, now what am I doing here
With poets who write so well, I fear
That when they read something of mine
They won't get much from my little rhymes

So scared to death, I just began
Learned how to post and almost ran
Then I began to meet some poets
Who believed in me and could show it

I could not believe that I
Had found a home - like I could fly
So I wrote something every day
And the friends of mine didn't go away

I won't call names, but they know
Just how much they made me grow
For God's Little Whispers new to me
Was something that was yet to be

Each time I faltered, afraid to send
I'd hear one say 'you've got a friend'
Oh yes, I did and how blessed to be
A little part of the Starlite family

It's been a few years and lots of writes
Sometimes done in day - some done at night
Listening for when the 'whispers' come
I never quit - for I'm just not done

How blessed was I when passing by
I checked this site..and God knows why
Because He found a home we'd share
With folks who knew how to love and care

Just so you know, we all share ink
And this is what I really think
That we are blessed to have this home
Where you've got a friend - and not alone

'You've Got A Friend'

I want to dedicate this to all Starlite Poets.
People even I have not met - but still
are friends. God bless you always.
With my love,
