Each Night of Dark for Dawn Implores

How I wish that life were not a bore
That living wasn't such a chore
Each night of dark for dawn implores
Its break unsure, its break unsure...

With you not here, I beg for death
To come and steal my final breath
There's no one left to feel bereft
There's no one left, there's no one left...

You were my shining light of hope
That helped me daily just to cope
You were my alcohol, my dope
My tethered rope, my tethered rope...

But then, in just a moment's flash
My hope was just a smoldering ash
Even now, I hear the splash
The horrid crash, the horrid crash...

That I could walk away unscathed!
Still leaves me furious with rage!
Does time all sorrows slowly bathe?
For this I pray, for this I pray...

Did I say that's life's a bore?
Well, that is wrong - it's so much more
An exercise that I deplore
Forevermore, forevermore...
