Unwove and Lost
Wasted emotions lean like warped pier stanchions,
rough hewn as if infested with barnacles
and weathered by insistent salt air.
Fallen promises sadly litter the fabric of discord
expelling the remnants of bad intentions,
deflating pierced bladders of bile.
Missed warmth of kisses unwillingly withheld
rest on unsmiling lips, bemoaning the loss
of a desired heartfelt connection.
Our once entwined fingers hold nothing but air.
A gap has appeared in a union once strong,
drifting away from combined strength.
Echoes of heart songs filtered through remorse,
their sad melodies so pitifully untenable
they fade away utterly joyless.
Better times have ashamedly crawled away
without benefit of a simple look back
to see eyes holding similar tears.
These days without you gnaw at my heart.
Can this really be the ultimate sad ending?
Solo meditation and time will tell.
Time will tell.
Submitted for the 'Multi' challenge incorporating the following: Entwined Fingers, These Days Without You and Time Will Tell. Here's hoping you all get something from this read.
