Thanksgiving Perspectives

You celebrate the pilgrims
who first embraced your shores
and every year remember
to be thankful for what's yours.

Australia also has a 'special' day
to recognise invasion...
one my native heart rejects,
for I am not of that persuasion.

I cannot, in good conscience celebrate
but I must forgive and cannot hate.

Instead I'd rather thank my God
for every single day...
every joy and every pleasure
he's permitted come my way.

Do I really need a holiday
just to thank my God and King?
He gives me hope and victory
and every blessed thing.

Enjoy your traditions,
have a wonderful day
but remember the Peoples
who suffered on the way.
