Web Weaving

Sticky tidbits of now and had been
Wound around everything I touch
They are tethered to my existence
The harder I try the more I'm entwined
A gossamer burden meant for forever

Struggling against these webs of life
Some were cast from my heart and soul
Others stumbled upon in the darkness
To distinguish between their meaning
I grasp the tenuous threads of my reality

Two choices confront me with decision
I can allow the entanglements to devour me
Or weave patterns anew to set myself free
Even the most unsubstantial threads I find
Grow in strength when combined together

Love, laughter, smiles, beauty and joy
Mingle with doubt, sadness, worry and fear
A delicate balance in the webs encountered
Through a lifetime of rising up to overcome
Every time the web of life must be recreated
