Broken

SultryRose's Signatures

Silhouette of a tarnished soul
knocking on minds door
what if's and could have been's
haunting...
me once more

If only I had listened
to those who gave advice
chose instead to love you
my weakness...
was your vice

Abuse, your way of loving
held with nasty grip
hoping I could change things
yet...
into hell I slipped

Bloody lip and blackened eye
your hand had mighty blow
excuses made in mirror
refused...
to let pain show

My dying soul is craving
true love and tenderness
salty tears sting
open wounds...
taste of hopelessness

Within the depths of heartache
where shadows chant their tunes
t'ween love and hate
a fine line...
not always understood

False hope kept me clinging
to what just couldn't be
seeing things more clearly
t'was...
never you and me

No more empty promises
it's time we just move on
nothing you say
now matters...
I've heard that same ole song

Release me of your shackles
cut loose these chains
that bind...
let go my heart
forever...
erase me from your mind

Just turn your back
walk away...
set my spirit free
to pick up broken pieces
of what is left of me

Suppose I'll always love you
'tho heart is shattered,
torn...
it saddens me in knowing
one day you'll die alone
