This will be
The winter of my
Life
When my working days
Are over
My nine to five job
Is through
That will be the time
I get to enjoy
The things
I love to do
However, before I get to do
These things
That I love to do
I have a list
I must complete
Of things
That I have
Neglected
When working took away
All my time
The roof,
needs fixing
The house,
needs painted
Too
New tile,
for the bathroom floor
A job
I really need
To do
The garden
Is overrun with weeds
The flowers and vegetables
Have been
Neglected
The basement
Is out of hand
Another job and place
That I have neglected
A major clean up
Has been
Projected
The laundry
Is piling up
The dishes are too
Oh, and the dust build up
Dusting is something
I hate to do
It has truly been neglected
I would not lie
To you
When the list is complete
And all my tasks
Are through
Then I will enjoy
My retirement
Like I am supposed
To do
I will sit
Out in the sun
And let it warm
My face
Relax,
and read a good book
Without,
Losing my place
I will spend quality time
With family and friends
Time that I have missed
Spending
With them
Take a walk
Down by the river
Perhaps catch
A fish or two
So many things
I never seem,
To have enough time
To do
However, since I will be
Retired
The time I have then
Will be my own
To do the things
I missed doing
In my life
Maybe take
A much-needed vacation
Maybe go on a cruise
Or maybe
I will do nothing at all
When my working days
Are through
I will be able
To sleep all day
If I choose to
No alarm to wake me up
No more hitting snooze
Stay up late at night
After the stars appear
Sit beneath
The moonlit night
Enjoying
The country air
The time then
Will be mine
No more schedule to keep
Now,I can just
Play, sleep, and eat
Oh,after my chore list
Is complete
