Sighs of the Times
A newly elected president did proclaim
with change comes better times.
My problems are pretty much the same,
still scavenging for a couple more dimes.
I have a little jingle in my pocket,
along with a few folding bills
During tight times such as these,
not quite enough to cure the ills.
Decisions, decisions, how to proceed
with what little geetis I have.
Do I feed my screaming stomach
or buy that nasty rash a salve?
The economy is a sumbitch
for those not named Warren Buffet.
The young lady and her spider
couldn’t afford the proverbial tuffet.
Stay outta the mall and its bright lights,
kinda makes one feel like the Grinch.
They couldn’t care one iota less
about each penny you must give a pinch.
The gas station is a shop of horrors,
with counters that roll at amazing speed
I’ve you’ve plans to get anywhere
this overpriced liquid gold you need.
Oh Lord, thank you for making me simple,
no champagne appetite do I possess.
Let’s see if Barak Obama can do the job
and get us out of Washington’s mess.
Submitted for the a'with change comes' challenge
