Dear Oscar Wilde

All art is quite useless you say,
well I beg to disagree.
With most mediums I play,
I have an argument you see.

I’m an artist and self taught,
and my work I know will sell.
My early work’s been bought,
by an eager clientele.

I write stories within verse,
as many friends of mine do too.
With our words we will rehearse,
which makes our errors few.

So a dramatist you are,
that’s an art form in itself.
Let’s not take your quotes too far,
I think we’ll leave some on the shelf.

You’ve made so many quotes before,
they’re the thoughts of one who knows.
We all know you wrote some more,
in your screenplays and your prose.

Wilde, I’m an admirer of yours,
and I fair enjoy your writing.
Though folk make false overtures,
I find your work is quite exciting.
