WHEN YOU CAN'T TRUST
For years I wore a headband
Written on it you would see
I am very VULNERABLE....
Yes, that would be me!!!
Always believing every word
You told me to be true
Never thinking anyone
Would try to deceive you
I grew up in the times back when
Life was simple most of the days
You trusted those you met in life
What they did and what they'd say
Never had to worry about the truth
But, oh, so many broken hearts
Came because of being naive
So vulnerable from the start
For years I just continued on
Until I'd had enough I guess
I learned that things were meaningless
If you felt they took a test
So, I got a little smarter
My heart got broken less
Took some time, but finally found
That ever-lasting happiness
Why do folks make life so hard
To complicate things so
Just tell the truth the first time
Shows character, you know
No more wearing headbands
That describe just how I am
Don't need that anymore 'cause
I finally found just the right man
We're getting married before long
And his words are always true
The sweetest ones he's said are
'My darling, I sure do love you'
