Banded for Life
Singing songs in tandem
because we know the words.
Reciting poems verbatim,
from pompous to absurd.
Sharing trivial notions,
filling in each other’s blanks.
Feeling dual emotions
for which we offer thanks.
Starting up a sentence,
the other quickly completes.
Feeling of the essence
that wards off all defeats.
Your caring makes me sappy,
you always think of me first.
Sharing make me crazy happy,
my heart may one day burst.
Over thirty amazing years
of learning each other’s soul.
Loving has been our careers,
we’ve been on such a roll.
I could say that I love you
and all the little things you are,
but you already know that’s true,
you’re why we’ve come this far.
A look, a touch, a gentle sigh
form dialog we both understand.
The explanation, the reason why
is engraved in our wedding bands.
