Could Hell Be Like This?
What would be a more effective
punishment for a sin,
than to put the sinner in front of the door
and let him not walk in?
For the totally selfish alcoholic
who lived only for the bottle he tipped,
dangle the juice in front of him
but prevent him from having a sip.
For the God-forsaken womanizer
who dwelt on the sexual all of his life,
put hoards of women all around him,
let him have not even a wife.
For those who lusted for money,
put in front of them potential cash.
Let the close of every business deal
be just beyond their grasp.
Put these spirits in the real world.
Call it Purgatory or Hell.
Let them reap the pain they lavished.
Unknown to them, from life they fell.
Everyone else knows they’re not real;
but to tell, the lips won't move.
Do you know that you're not one of these?
Search your soul, test, and prove!
