Get Rid Of The Advertisements

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

WHEN I WAS A LITTLE TOT
WE HAD NO MONEY OR
SOMETIMES NOT ENOUGH
TO EAT. MY FATHER WAS
EITHER SICK OR LAZY TWAS
HARD TO TELL.

HE DIDN'T WORK ANY WAY
MY MOTHER TRIED VERY
HARD TO MAKE A LIVING
FOR US BUT SHE COULDN'T
DO IT BY HERSELF. THERE
WERE SIX OF US KIDS.

AT CHRISTMAS TIME IT
BROKE MY MOM'S HEART
BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T
GET THINGS FOR US SHE
WANTED TO.

SO WE WOULD GO INTO
THE WOODS AND GET A
SMALL TREE AND DECORATE
IT WITH CREPE PAPER AND
POP CORN IF SHE COULD
SHE WOULD GET CANDY CANES
AND PUT THEM ON THE TREE.

YES WE WERE HAPPY AND WHAT
WE GOT NO MATTER HOW SMALL
WE WERE SO HAPPY IT MADE US
FEEL AT LEAST TEN FEET TALL.
