This too Shall Pass
This too shall pass, when time has flown,
the pain is momentary.
Release the chains and let it fall,
it's too much load to carry.
Chop the dog's tail bit by bit,
prolong the pain forever,
or make a decision and let go
a cancerous growth to sever.
To things we cling, old ideas we hold
while we try to change our lives.
Briars rip through the weakened flesh
and pierce our hearts like knives.
I quit, I give, I surrender my heart
to the One who can make it well.
I've known all along that this too shall pass.

This was written to encourage
my friends in Divorce Recovery.
It uses an expression that is
familiar to them (chop the dog's
tail). It is also good and inspirational
for the general public.
