Grinch
T'was the night before Christmas
tree strapped on my back
mood ugly, disgraceful
in need of a nap
I trudged 'n I stomped
my boots soaking wet
heard Christmas bells ringing
but couldn't care less
Snow covered ground
bitter chill filling air
Caroler's singing
so cheerful, I glared
Wearing knit hat
on half frozen head
just wanted a drink
some cuddling in bed
I cursed as feet stumbled
threw me to ground
face covered with slush
still wearing a frown
Frosty the snowman
watched in dismay
couldn't imagine
my acting this way
White fluff kept mounting
was ticking me off
I muttered in silence
bah humbug, I scoffed
Then all of a sudden
to my won'drous surprise
came a man wearing red
twinkling in eyes
Lead by his reindeer
he called them by name
pulling a sleigh
o're snow mounds they came
His beard purest white
with cheeks rosy pink
'tis the season
he said with a wink
Laughing from belly
so jolly was he
with a quick glance
he gathered the tree
Strung it with lights
a gold star on top
garland 'n tinsel
that glowed in the dark
I thought he was crazy
who was this old fool?
out in this weather
traveling the world
A sack full of toys
he tossed by my feet
gave stockings chuck full
of candy and treats
Felt awfully stupid
such a jerk I had been
gathered warm thoughts
as guilt clogged my head
Heart flitter fluttered
as he rode out of sight
Merry Christmas, he waved
and a joyous, goodnight
Twas the night before Christmas Challenge
