An Artist by Heart

The true carpenter is an artist by heart,
shaping and fabricating a magnificent creation.
Nature’s intricately figured grain formation
is made a masterpiece by the worker of art.

First, it is dull gray wood with gnarled bark,
then a genius plan and steps of construction.
Yes, the true carpenter is an artist by heart,
shaping and fabricating a magnificent creation.

Sure hands shape what he designs from his heart.
Beauty caresses it lovingly. Delightful sensations
fill an observer’s eyes. Skillful manipulation
of each piece, precisely formed and assigned a part,
the true carpenter is an artist by heart.

The form of this poem is Rondel.
In a Rondel the first line must
be repeated in the seventh and
the thirteenth.
