Sticks and Stones

You promised me forever
that you'd be ever true.
I kick myself I ever
believed your lies and you.

''Sticks and stones may break bones
but lies will break a heart''
and no mere words can now atone
I'm alone and torn apart.

I don't want to know the story
I don't need to hear your tales.
Your lies have dulled love's glory
and the *hero* ever fails.

Yes, I did get a bit upset
but why do I still cry?
I'm now as free as I can be
and you've paid for every lie.
