Hunting Wild Boar With a Switch

I may not be the brightest bulb in life’s lamp
nor the sharpest knife in the drawer.
I will actually seek shelter when the weather’s damp,
even morons can get soaked to the core.

I sing not my praises of brilliance and candor
I’m a simple man with run of the mill thoughts.
I never stoop to ego busting slurs or slander,
they’re uncalled for and considered cheap shots.

It’s good that I can amuse myself with simple notions,
some even lend themselves to writing down to keep.
When in one of my moods words cause commotions,
it’s what I choose to do when I can no longer sleep.

Read something by me that has you scratching your head,
refer back to the first two lines of this little ditty.
These are words written, just out of my warm comfy bed,
the juxtaposition may not always be correct or pretty.

We all want that masterpiece to come from our souls,
mesmerizing pundits who are intellectually accomplished.
Just embrace the finished product that inexplicably rolls
from a mind laboring mightily yet is just slightly diminished.
