WHEN I FORGET
Well, here I am another day
Wondering if my mind will stray
Sometimes it vacations for a while
Some are so good they make me smile
I realize this could be a plight
Or sometimes just plain oversight
But please remember when you opinionize
This will be you ... before you realize
Memory is a funny thing you see
It happens to you and happens to me
Sometimes it's just as clear as a bell
And other times....oh well, oh well
Now it can be a good thing to
Forgetting things that you wish to
Unfortunately it's not usually that way
The bad remain and the good ones go astray
You hope to keep a mixture there
You remember when 8 how you wore your hair
You recall the first boy you dated
Forgot the name ..(that's over-rated)
Now if we could just pick and choose
But that's not what the 'system' uses
We are vulnerable and so
One wonders where the mind might go
We only hope...and yes we pray
We still can remember yesterday
And surely with a single prayer
When we forget; God takes us there
Growing older is not a choice
You hear that wee little voice
That tries to tell you it's okay
Even brilliant minds can stray
