ONE VOICE

It has been asked if all alone
On an island very far away
You have a phone, but just one call
What would be your choice, I say
Many names cross your mind
You narrow it down to few
Wondering who would really care
Just what should you do
My first thought was Jesus!!!
Then, I smiled and realized
Jesus was but a prayer away
He lives right up in yonder skies
No telephone lines to Heaven
So, if I had someone else to choose
Just who would be the one I'd pick
I sat there feeling real confused
There are many people in my life
That I love ... how would one pick
Put their names upon a page
Then carefully go down the list
Children, friends, strangers yet
How could one possibly choose
What knowledge would you pass on
That would be something they could use
Perhaps the reader of this poem
Would be the chosen one
Certainly they care enough
I think of each as time doth run
I spent the day reflecting
On everyone on the list
Also of my lifetime here
What all I'd done; what did I miss
Twas getting near to sunset
I knew I must make up my mind
I finally had narrowed it down
What to say and my last rhyme
I reached for my cell phone
It had been by my side all day
Decided before I made the call
I'd talk to Jesus about what to say
He said I'm proud of you my child
For you really took your time
I think your choice was also good
Another child-of-God .. that's fine
Now one thing I must tell you child
That while you took much time to look ahead
It seems your cell phone doesn't work
Somehow it's just gone dead
Oh well, you think, it was too hard
And you had talked to the most important one
When you had made your call to Jesus
You'd picked God's beloved and only Son
Realizing that when you talk to Jesus
God and Holy Spirit are right there
Yes, indeed, you'd done your best
You chose the Trinity and fervent prayer
