On Wit

William Shakespeare:
Brevity is the soul of wit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If 'brevity is the soul of wit'
then William Shakespeare missed that bit.
For his words fill volumes and volumes and then
more volumes filled by his fertile pen!
Brief's not the word I could use to describe
all of the words that William has scribed.
Yet, I can't help but agree, you see,
for I see beauty in brevity.
For just one word or just a few
can stay with me and stick like glue.
There's many who think they're a wit,
at least they're right by half of it!
