WORDS

Photobucket

I know that I was just a child
When it was first I heard
As trying to learn how to read
This awesome written word

Each flash card was another
Chance to learn a different word
Before I knew it I got so
I could read what I had heard

I loved the stories; Dick and Jane
Susy and the little dog named Spot
After all these years you'd think
That would be something I forgot :)

My first family to read about
Then came the fairy tales I adored
Reading was a precious thing
I learned to love it more and more

I was just a little child of five
Then on to more learning we ventured
Now we were learning to write things
That in time would become words

The world had turned to magic
Right before my very little eyes
For reading and writing would prove
To be the best things in my life

Who would have thought so long ago
At the age of seventy-one
I would sit here with paper and words
Still enjoying each and everyone

I do not know just which it is
I write to live or I live to write
I just know that either way
My soul says to me 'It's just alright!'

Don't take my paper or my pen
Don't take away the many rhymes
For I would somehow waste away
These were and still are..mine

I praise you God for many things
God, I praise the written word
May I always feel that way
Remembering all I've even heard
