It's hard to believe another year
Has passed us by again - my dear
I just had to let you know
Before the year has time to go
You are in my thoughts and prayers
this New Years Eve - no matter where
We've been so close and yet so far
I wonder so often just how you are
We were so close so very long
Just like an uninterrupted song
The words were sweet and somehow said
Just what we felt ..years back and ahead
Where did the time go and just how
Did we lose each other in the 'Now'
I wipe the tears remembering this
So much there is to reminisce
The years just slid right on by
You went your way and so did I
Not meaning not to keep in touch
I know we cared so very much
Yet that is life and oh how wrong
That 'things' come and erase our song
Each time I hear it - my heart breaks
For all the loss .... the big mistakes
Perhaps one day we'll figure out
Just what this lifes been all about
I know I love you as much or more
Right here now as I did before
I don't know where to send these words
The most important perhaps to be heard
To try to find you somewhere, somehow
I pray to God He'll show me how
