The Poet in Me

I am a poet not a performance monkey,
I write when I am inspired.
At times I am called a writing junkie,
Other times my pen is tired.

I can not write on wish or command,
I have to have the muse on my side.
None of my poems vexed on or planned.
They come rolling out from inside.

I write my lines down when I can,
And when I do not I read and live.
None of my life is set by plan,
I just go forth and give.

My poetry comes as it may,
And that is all I have to say.
