IT COULD BE YOU
I wish you thought in each drink you take
That in the end it is a decision you make
Alcohol can be fun for a while
Until you can no longer smile
No one knows what the end will be
If they did, perhaps they would see
For most it is a paved road to Hell
As it is for the ones they love as well
People do strange things when they drink
Throw away their brains and cannot think
Hurt other people in so many ways
Not to mention cruel words they say
A one night party can become a lifetime plan
For once you've started you just don't understand
That some can drink and some just cannot
According to the genes you've got
An alcoholic gets drunk with the first drink
I know most people think it is the last
But that's the ugliness in it all
Because people so soon forget the past
I've seen it all I'm sad to say
As it has taken lives from me
It seems that on a 'box' I stand
To tell the horrors of what can be
Each of us has our own decision
Once I heard a wise woman say
You know it is a problem if
It is a problem most every day
Other choices you can make
Leading to a happy life and love
When you get to that point in life
I hope they are the ones you think of
