Rushed for a dead-line,
the sparky was coming.
I'd painted the ceiling
but a headache was drumming.
Wallpaper was needed
behind my new stove.
I was running out of time
and really had to move.
Then a crazy thing happened,
thank God it happened no later...
at the top of the step I leaned on the wall,
elbow went through a ventilator.
I couldn't hang that last sheet
until I fixed the mess.
I was dirty in my work gear,
needing to wash and dress.
Five minutes on I was in the car,
my son in his carry seat.
I dashed to the hardware store
but had nothing on my feet.
I fixed the whole thing within an hour.
I was sweaty, dusty and needing a shower.
The baby was fretful, demanding a sleep.
He settled quietly without a peep.
I stripped to shower and about to hop in
but a knock on the door put my head in a spin.
The sparky! Of all times for him to come!
Should have thought. I am so dumb!
All was over, all was done.
The kids came home from school.
I created a miracle on my new stove
so my man would not think me a fool.
He barely noticed the difference...
the kitchen, the stove, the meal.
But when he asked how was my day,
I shrugged and said, 'No big deal!'
