ON THE BANKS OF THE RIVER

'He sat on the banks of the river
Watching as it flowed along
He wondered where it was going
And he wished he could go along'
What adventures must lie ahead there
Much different than this small town
Wouldn't it be wonderful then
To just follow the river around
Over the rocks as it ripples
Sometimes but barely a stream
Rivers flowing over memories bank
Bringing back many childhood dreams
He sat on the grass under summer skies
Knowing that fall was not far away
Wondering if he went with the river
Where would he go and where would he stay
He remembered the dreams of his youth
The memories he had stored in his heart
When he thought he could do just anything
But found when he tried ..he nary could start
Now he was older and wiser as he sat
On the banks of the river humming a song
Watching as it swiftly went round the bend
Knowing his passion...he must write a poem
