Fugitive - Part 3

Don finished for the day,
and packed up his art gear.
It filled him with dismay,
when he saw the men come near.

One was limping as he walked,
he had taken quite a zap.
He’s the one that had been shocked,
by Don’s quick booby trap.

The short man’s walk was worse,
he looked as though in pain.
With every step he’d curse,
hate for Don he would sustain.

An epiphany moment came,
to Don’s mind there and then.
Where he went they’d do the same,
he’d be followed by these men.

As Don strolled to the place,
he’d been living for a while.
Spreading slowly o’er his face,
was a ready beaming smile.

Don ensured the men could see,
he was known by plenty folk.
Showing they would not be free,
to try and pull a stroke.

Down an alleyway Don walked,
to lead the ‘heavy’ pair.
On his cell phone Don had talked,
asking friends to meet him there...

Don walked right to the end,
then stopped and turned around.
Clear message he would send,
he was prepared to stand his ground.

The heavy pair moved in,
and at Don then they both swore.
Then there was a mighty din,
an approaching deafening roar.

Up the alleyway they came,
behind the two big men.
Twelve bikers dressed the same,
they had come to help their friend.

‘These guys are just some friends,
Hell’s Angels you will see.
For you it’s where this ends,
if you lay a hand on me...’

This was not what they had planned,
as they turned to walk away.
‘We’ll come back you understand,
and next time you will pay...’

Don said, ‘A small defenceless creature,
sometimes scuttles for cover.
I have once shown you that feature,
but of that style I am no lover.’

‘I mean this from the heart,’
Don called out to the pair.
‘If to the next world you would part,
just come back, I’ll send you there...’

The ‘Chapter’ leader said, ‘Hey guys,
we’ve already ‘fixed’ your wheels.
You’ll leave here if you’re wise,
and take a train, there’s some good deals.’

‘Let’s get back to London town,
report back to the boss.
He’ll do much more than frown,
now our new car’s another loss...’

As they limped further away,
from Don now set to go.
No one heard the tall one say,
‘There’s more to ‘Don’ than we know...’

to be continued...
