Lost

Huddled beneath the rocks
In the torrent of rain
Lost among hidden trails
Body withered with pain

Darkness surrounding me
Searching for a light
Mind trying to make plans
To get out of this plight

The night is getting colder
Shivers run down my spine
Not really sure if
Me they'll ever find

Strange noises I am hearing
Animals hunting in the night
What will befall me
I'm shivering in fright

Weariness overcoming me
Eyes want to close in sleep
Can't succumb to this weariness
A vigil I must keep

I'm reaching the crossroads
From life unto death
Should I take the chance
And close my eyes in rest

Can't keep my eyes open
So I guess come what may
To weak now to resist
Will I awake to a new day

Lost among the hidden trails
Don't know if I'll make it home
Will I be lost here forever
To face death alone
