Get Rid Of The Advertisements

Supping With Sorrow

the pub was lively and the Beer it flowed free
and there many a Whiskey was offered to he
but his love for the drink was a love long forgot
and all the Blarney from the lads would change his mind not

he had came to the pub though a drinker he ain't
to celebrate with others this day of their Saint
and watch as the lasses with red and Gold hair
danced to the music a Jig with great flair

then the clock on the wall chimed out to say
it was now getting late and he should be on his way
so he snaked his way through the now half drunken crowed
and when at the door turned and shouted out loud

for all of you lads and you lasses an old whish that's Irish
from the bottom of this old heart and it goes something like this
may you live for as long you want and never want as long as you live
and to each and all here may God His blessings He to you give

then with Shillelagh gripped tightly in hand
on his way homeward he limped cross the land
past fields full of Clover and lush growing Green
with clusters of heather here and there seen

thought he was old and never believed much in luck
each Shamrock he saw he'd make sure it he'd pluck
for it was done by his wife who had passed long ago
she believed in there luck, Leprechauns and Rainbows

and in doing it somehow she was still by his side
as he limped to the lonely cottage where both once did reside
where meals of cabbage and corned beef she did once there prepare
but now only sorrow and potatoes were all he supped on when there

yet still each night in prayers he would say
Thank You Dear Lord for this Glorious Day
