PRAYERS FOR A FATHER

My son, Jason, was at the hospital
because his daughter was ill. While there,
he met a man whose son was dying. This
man was so heartbroken because he didn’t
know what he should do. He wanted to
keep holding on to his son but he wasn’t
sure if he should. He turned for help
to my son, who was a stranger. My
son told him to pray.

He sat right down beside me,
as the tears fell from his eyes.
He didn’t know where to turn
for his son was going to die.

“Should I let him go?” he asked,
“I don’t know what to do.
I don’t want him to suffer
it’s breaking my heart in two.”

I understood the pain he felt,
as I thought of my own life.
I once gave up a son I loved
and the pain cut like a knife.

This father needed someone
to help him through the day,
Just an answer to his cries,
a light to show the way.

“You need to say I prayer,
ask our Father up above.
He will give you guidance,
He’ll shelter you with love.”

I offered him my friendship’s hand,
and we knelt in silent prayer,
I knew the arms of angels
would shelter that father there.

I may never know the outcome,
but on that quiet night
I was there to help another
find his way back to the light.

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall
ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
