Guilty, By Reason of Love

If I were to leave a note on the nightstand
“I love you and have a great day”,
would you hold it gently in your own hand
and know everything is A-okay?

If I were to have the coffee set to brew
around the time you like to get up,
you may see a picture of me plus you
as you leisurely sipped that first cup.

If I were to call you just about midday
just to touch base with my love.
Would you know just what words to say?
It’s just what you’ve dreamed of.

If I never stop showing my love at will
perhaps my love will defeat time.
I loved you then and I love you still,
lock me up if it’s now a crime.
