MY NAME IS AUBREY

There was a precious little girl
I use to see at play
I never really knew her
But I looked for her each day

She was a troubled little soul
And I always wondered why
Wishing I could help her
Wishing I could somehow try

Sometimes I thought I saw tears
And she always walked alone
Just a precious little girl
I wondered where was home

I wished that I could make her smile
A child so rare as this
I longed to hold her in my arms
And share with her a little kiss

But we weren't destined to meet
For in time she went away
I watched for her with sadness
I don't think I missed a day

I asked the other children
One day as they played a game
They said the only thing she said
Was, 'Aubrey is my name'

I hope that Aubrey smiles now
And somehow she's found life's song
For any precious child like her
Needs to know where they belong
