THE VOICE

What is it that we look for in life
Each of us different by birth and by choice
Perhaps visions of grandeur, knapsacks full of hope
Is what we invision when we take time to rejoice

I would pick the knapsacks full of hope
As grandeur has never been my style
Just give me simple times and quiet dreams
As I try to face each day with a gentle smile

Some need the grandeur, I have known
People who never settled for less than the best
But what is best for you might not be for me
And why would anyone want to pick unrest

I love the simple times in life
When God is in my life and soul
I am content to live with such
Even as I know I'm growing old

Fresh air and sunshine, hummingbirds on wing
What more could one ask of a spring day...
Talking with someone you truly love
This would be my choice in life, I'd say

My choice...my voice............
