I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER

Sometimes fathers are so busy
taking care of earning a living and
providing well for their families that
they forget to stop and take time
for their children....

Did you hold me on your knee once,
when I was filled with fear?
Did you see that I was crying
and wipe away my tears?

I don’t remember….

Did you tell me I was pretty
when I was just a child?
Did you tell me how you loved me
so you could see me smile?

I don’t remember….

So many thoughts come to me now,
a past I’ve left behind,
I just wish I had felt special, once,
but I can’t recall a time,

Someday your ride on earth will end,
I’ll stand and mourn my loss,
yet you will never know my pain
or what has been the cost.

But, sadly, I cannot seem to forget…..
