LAST CALL

Well it was very late at night
The bars had to be closed
But where were you my husband
Well, now....goodness knows
First I packed a little bag
To leave outside the door
Thought that would say everything
Sure wasn't wanting to say more
Time passed and passed, I wondered
Should I move the couch outside the door
It would be a comfy place to sleep
Better than the concrete floor
I decided, no, not that,
You'd already made your bed
So you slept on the concrete
Morning newspaper hit your head
About then you had the nerve to knock
But the climate had not changed inside
You had done this to me and
I was not much more than a bride
They say to read the clock on the wall
But I was just not very smart
I had given you my all....
You most surely had my heart
So in you came ...so sorry... it wouldn't happen again
I believed each word you said
And it didn't...until it did once more (can't remember when)
I just know you'd made your bed
For once a person lies to you
What are you suppose to believe
It just went on; then danger too
When you knocked me to my knees
Well, it's a long, long story
But the ending is the best
For I finally got over you
I put your 'bed' to rest
I ought to decorate that couch
And would if it weren't gone
That should have been the only test
Then stupid should have gone on
