MISSING WORK

He woke this morning feeling just fine,
but there was a stirring deep down inside.
He looked out the window to clearing skies,
as he rubbed the sleep from out of his eyes.
“I don’t think I’ll go in to work today,
‘cause I want some time to just sit and play.
I’ll tell them my stomach is causing me pain
I’ll say that I’m sure the flu is to blame.”
For the rest of the day he spent having fun
he even went fishing, laying out in the sun.
Soon it was bedtime, he stretched and said,
“Maybe tomorrow I’ll play sick again!”
He woke to sunshine and again made a call
“I’m still feeling sick, won’t be there at all.”
Another day spent outside in the sun,
enjoying this freedom and new found fun.
But when he arrived at his job the next day,
he discovered that life was not going his way.
Management had to make cuts in the crew,
since he’s missed work, his job was now through.

So now he spends time out looking for work,
and it all came about ‘cause his job he did shirk.
The fun he was having, he can no longer do,
‘cause he doesn’t have money and bills are all due.
So when you start thinking ‘bout missing a day,
because you want time to just sit and play,
take a hard look around ‘cause jobs are so few,
remember this story could be about YOU.
