With Hugs 'n Kisses

Dearest Mom,

Hoping this will reach you
'fore special Holiday
sealed with hugs 'n kisses
while strolling memory lane

We may have had our differences
'n sometimes disagreed
these words I'm sending onward
now ready for release

Always I did love you
perhaps it didn't show
'n so I write my feelings
with hope, somehow you'll know

Yesterday gone forever
tomorrow out of reach
today my heartfelt scribbles
were dipped in mem'ries ink

When only just a toddler
I'd cling to apron strings
our silliness 'n laughter
revisited in dreams

Mom, can you remember
my pigtails tied in bows?
painted cheeks 'n lipstick
dress up in your clothes?

If only for a moment
I could take your hand
whisper, 'Mom, I'm sorry'
I truly understand

Life for you was difficult
wish I had known it then
instead of passing judgement
would have been a friend

If I could give you mem'ries
to cherish evermore
I'd take away the sadness
you harbored deep in soul

Wishing now to hug you
bust a laugh or three
go shopping, on a picnic
share giggles, morning tea

If only it were possible
I'd place kisses 'pon your face
'n wisk away the heartache
with tender, warm embrace

Mom,
I trace your picture
childhood crosses mind
days of yore resurface
unleash themselves in rhyme

I can not bring dark chocolate
tied with ribbons red
or deliver favorite flowers
so send my love instead

My heart is on the paper
now wet with flowing tears
if only ink held magic
could bring back yesteryears

Mama can you catch it?
my kiss blown to the sky
at rainbows end...
I'll see you...
in sweetest bye 'n bye

I Love you, Mom!
Happy Mothers Day!

Your Daughter,
Rose
