Carry Me Over

You carried me over the
bridge of trouble
to the shore where
calm and peace lie.
Let me look back at
the wreck and the rubble.
They’ve been the
hindrance to my every try.

Whisper in my ear,
“Those days are no more”.
Place my feet back on
safe and solid ground.
It would never be wise
for me to hope to ignore
that I was hopelessly lost,
now I’m found.

Lord, I tried so hard
to do this on my own,
the hole I was digging
got deeper by the day.
There was no hope to be found
at the end of a phone,
it only came when I chose
to kneel down and pray.

Your power is mighty and absolute,
I’ve no doubt.
The air that I breathe
is now without pain.
Your benevolent majesty
brought me all the way out
and in your merciful bosom
I choose to remain.
