Inside Joke (Wouldn’t You Like to Know)?
I often have funny little notions
that I keep scrupulously inside.
Accidental release would cause commotions
my brethren would never abide.
Little thoughts that amuse me
may be best served staying unsaid.
The delightful twinkle in my eye you may see
is the result of comedy in my head.
There’s even a tune to accompany
the bon mots bringing singular joy.
These thoughts command more than a penny
to get me to release and deploy.
Critics abound who would love to rip
me for entertaining such giddy fluff.
I’ll guard them so there’s no accidental slip,
people already think I’m strange enough.
When you see me sporting a wry little smile
be assured that I’m amusing my mind.
I’ve complete control of the channel switching dial
in the recesses, where my silliness is confined.
