Outrageous

Has anyone but me
been watching the stories
of the little girls
pushed into beauty pageants?
It all is being done for
their Mothers’ glories,
many of these children
can’t hide their laments.

The tanning sessions and
false eyelashes, come on,
these girls should be
outside playing games.
Hair extensions crowned
by tiaras, bleach blonde,
wearing gowns that’d put
Miss America to shame.

All is being done for
Mommy’s gratification,
this type of competition
is just short of mad.
Poll the little girls
about their participation.
The majority would say
it’s too much, too soon, too bad!
